I entered the marine industry in 1991 when I joined Leigh Dinghy Services (formaly Leigh Dinghy Store) selling dinghy equipment, marine paints and resins.
In 1993 I took a job with North West Sailboat centre in Eccles which later moved to Warrington and became Mailspeed Marine. In the early days we serviced the dinghy sailing scene in the northwest, we then started to supply equipment for larger boats including electronics – VHF, GPS, Plotters, Logs, Sounders/Fish Finders, Antifouls etc
In 2006 I felt the northwest needed a chandlery which concentrated mainly on dinghy supplies, we approached Leigh Dinghy Services who agreed that we would take over the assets and began trading as 1st Mark, we also relocated to our current premises which is close to the motorway network, as it provided plenty of parking, easy access for trailers and space inside to repair boats.
